May Day :)

Yesterday I met with the Director of Green Thumbs Growing Kids who told me that I visited at the perfect time as the dandelions had just came into bloom. She brought me up to the rooftop garden and surely they were plentiful (among a bunch of bitter dock). We shared ideas of what we could do with them…some hints are in my book ;) which she got to see in person for the first time! Her keenness and knowledge of botany was so inspiring. I’m honoured and so happy that they will be read to kids in the education programs.
I was also able to get a basket of goodies for Mother’s Day :)
Dandelion and basil and butterflies…a few of my faves. I’d say it was a beautiful day. It also happened to be National Public Gardens Day :))

Where do wishing flower seeds go before they grow?
I dream of going where the wishing flower seeds flow.
Follow me if you really want to know.
And willing to shrink a wee bit in size.
But don’t worry—it’ll only be for a little while
(and you will become all the more wise).
When the seeds are mature and ready,
The flower stalk elongates greatly.
Setting off with the simple slight of
a breeze,
The pappus takes flight with much grace and ease.
Steadily soaring to new heights,
Wisping away to places far and wide,
Until they are no longer in sight.
Unless you take hold and hang on tight.
Through time and space
Where “doing nothing” is not a waste.
If you dare to meet every corner of Earth,
As was a right bestowed upon you at birth.

Just as pollination is the wind’s vocation.
Where every season,
There is a reason,
For a seed to just be.
